Executive Vice President, Secretary and Chief Legal Officer, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.
Tom joined Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) in 1989 as Corporate Counsel, and has been promoted to various positions within SIA. He currently is SIA's Senior Executive Vice President, Secretary and Chief Legal Officer; and a Member of the Board of Directors.
Under his guidance, in 1998 SIA became the first auto assembly plant in the U.S. to achieve ISO14001 certification. Then, in 2002 SIA became the first auto assembly plant in the U.S. to have its entire site designated a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation; and in 2004 SIA became the first auto assembly plant in the U.S. to achieve zero-landfill status.
SIA has won several EPA Awards and Indiana Governor's Awards for its environmental stewardship; and SIA was recognized as the “Greenest Manufacturing Plant in America" in 2011. SIA has also been featured in numerous television segments and major publications for its environmental stewardship.
Tom serves as a Director for a variety of organizations, including the: Indiana Chamber of Commerce (Past Chairman), Indiana Automotive Council (Past Chairman), Japan-America Society of Indiana (Past President), IU Health, National Association of Manufacturers and the Lafayette Parks Foundation. He is also the Chairman of the Sustainability Committee for the Boy Scouts of America.
He has been a speaker at numerous conferences on legal, business and environmental matters; and has been the recipient of several awards, including the 2009 Excellence in Manufacturing Innovation Award.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University.
